Tim Merriman and Lisa Brochu live on their Kona coffee farm on the Big Island of Hawaii. They have traveled all 50 U.S. states and 26 countries doing interpretive training and planning over the past 25 years.

Tim has been an environmental educator, state park interpreter, non-profit nature center executive director, national recreation area research manager and Executive Director of National Association for Interpretation (NAI) from 1995 until 2012.

Lisa started her career managing a Texas State Parks Visitor Center but moved onto a career of more than three decades as an interpretive planner with her own company, working for diverse government and private organizations. In 1997 she led development of the certification program for NAI and in 2000, she and Tim Merriman developed NAI’s Certified Interpretive Guide program. In 2002 she joined the NAI staff as Associate Director in charge of all programming.
